Making Year 1 happy - with a bit of 'Samba' music!

Samba Workshop - 'Happiness'

Here are some of the pictures from our Samba workshop.  The children had great fun when Mrs Mack came to show us some of the exciting instuments & how to make a good sound with them...

It certainly made us all smile & put us in a good mood - there was even a little bit of sneaky dancing...! :)

Are you grooving to the rhythm?

Happy days......! x

Enterprise Week - Cake Bake

We tested our 3 chosen cakes to see which ones people preferred...

Not all the cakes were popular - can you tell!?

(even Miss Norton had to try them!)

After collecting the results on a 'Tally Chart', we found the most popular cake flavour were the vanilla and the chocolate cupcakes.

So, let the 'Bake-off' begin!

We measured...

...we mixed...

...we got flour everywhere...

...and then we baked 72 cupcakes!

Phew...  Mary Berry would be proud of us!!!

We had to design our own labels to attach to our cupcakes.

With help (thanks Mrs Collingridge), we packaged them up to sell.

Finally, we sold our cakes and made a good PROFIT!

A great day for us all, look out Junior Apprentice!

Our Enterprise Project

The owner from the 'Flapjack Fairy' company came to our school to share her experience on how to choose a product & start your own business.

She talked to us about her passion for flapjacks and why she wanted to sell them to lots of people.  How she started her business and importantly, how she makes a profit by doing this.

She explained to us how she tried out lots of flapjack recipes with her friends and family before choosing her best flapjack recipes...

We enjoyed the taste-test too!  So, we decided we must do the same with our Cupcake project.  We can't wait (yum)!

Finally, she also told us how important it was to get the packaging right, how to advertise the tasty product (and how to display it the right way up!)...

We have already designed our products and we are looking forward to our enterprising day!

A big thank you to 'Flapjack Fairy' for helping us on our way...

Having Fun on our new 'Trim Trail'!

We tried out the new 'Trim Trail' at the bottom of our School field...

We balanced...

We concentrated...

 We were brave...

We climbed - some went over and some went under!

We cheered everyone else on!

We scaled the cargo net... and got over the top!

We had lots of fun and everyone was pleased that they could complete the course with very little help!

Look at the fun we had at St Fagan's... washing Beti Bwt's bloomers!

We thought she may have had a big bottom!!

The boys carry the water for the washing.

Washing - using the scrubbing board.

Some of the class have a go at using the 'Dolly'...

I scrubbed and scrubbed to get it really clean!

Fun facts we learned:
Sheep poo makes great soap when boiled (you should try it!)
If you wee on your whites it makes them brighter!
He he he...

We had a great day learning all about the past (but we're glad we have a washing machine at home!)

Welcome to Year 2

Welcome to Year 2 - The children have settled in well and are enjoying our new topic 'Remember Remember'. We will be finding out about The Great Fire of London and Guy Fawkes.

We have already enjoyed a visit from the fire fighters at Cowbridge Fire Station. They taught us about fire safety and we also had a look at the fire engine.

Here are some other pictures ...
