Cefn Mably Farm Park

Here are a few pictures from our day trip to Cefn Mably Farm Park. The children learnt how to care for animals.

Supermarket

Supermarket. We have visited Tesco in Culverhouse Cross. We were able to visit the bakery, questioned the employees and explore the shop floor . Also we found the prices of different products.

At school we have had great fun in our role play area - we have been speaking Welsh!

We enjoyed making bread and cakes in school.  Then we set up a stall to sell our products to our families. We raised £50!

'Pop Up'

Our topic this term is 'Pop Up'.

We have been reading different 'pop up' story books.  Our role play area has been magically turned into a fairy tale castle!

We have been learning about magic 'e'...

so we used our magic 'e' wands to change the words!

Francesca Kay came along to our classroom to help us do some story telling and poetry writing.

We listened to a Welsh story called 'Sion Cwilt' - here we are starting small...

...we grew into giants...

...and we looked for wood for our house!

We put a roof on our house!!!

Here we are using our poetry skills and illustrating our poems.

We read our poems out loud to the class.

It was a great morning with Francesca - she helped us to use our imagination to create some wonderful poems.

You might like to look on her website to see what she thought of us...

Thank you for coming to Pendoylan Francesca! x

Double Sweetie Maths!

 Sweetie maths!

Learning to Double Numers using 'sweeties'!!

What a great way to learn how to 'Double' the number you have... We had to count the number of sweeties we needed to make 'Double'.

"Let me help you with your counting...!"

"'Doubling' is much better than 'halving' with sweets!"

That's a lot of sweets...

The children really got 'stuck in' to these 'doubling' maths problems...

...but we are not sure where all the sweets went?

We worked really well together... but keep away from my sweets and put that tongue away!

It was a great way to keep their attention focussed on the task!

'Doubling' was simply the best maths lesson ever...!

The best bit...?  Well, Mrs Collingridge let us eat the sweets after the lesson!!!

Mmmmmm!
