Electric Rainbow

We really enjoyed our topic on Electric Rainbow. We designed and made a light source for the King of Sparkle to light his kingdom. We found out how to make a circuit using a bulb, wires, switch and battery. We had a great time in Techniquest helping the Selfish Elf fix his toys.

Community Exploring in Year 1

We hope you all had a lovely Christmas and New Year!

May Mrs Collingridge and I take this opportunity to thank you all for the gifts we received from you over the Christmas period. It was very kind of you all.

Our theme this half-term is  Community Explorers and we have been busy examining our surroundings. We have made a good start by drawing maps, locating prominent features within the village and creating models of the main buildings found in the locality.

May we proudly present our first model to you.

Making Year 1 happy - with a bit of 'Samba' music!

Samba Workshop - 'Happiness'

Here are some of the pictures from our Samba workshop.  The children had great fun when Mrs Mack came to show us some of the exciting instuments & how to make a good sound with them...

It certainly made us all smile & put us in a good mood - there was even a little bit of sneaky dancing...! :)

Are you grooving to the rhythm?

Happy days......! x

Enterprise Week - Cake Bake

We tested our 3 chosen cakes to see which ones people preferred...

Not all the cakes were popular - can you tell!?

(even Miss Norton had to try them!)

After collecting the results on a 'Tally Chart', we found the most popular cake flavour were the vanilla and the chocolate cupcakes.

So, let the 'Bake-off' begin!

We measured...

...we mixed...

...we got flour everywhere...

...and then we baked 72 cupcakes!

Phew...  Mary Berry would be proud of us!!!

We had to design our own labels to attach to our cupcakes.

With help (thanks Mrs Collingridge), we packaged them up to sell.

Finally, we sold our cakes and made a good PROFIT!

A great day for us all, look out Junior Apprentice!
